Ingredients
1 large onion, roughly chopped
3 garlic cloves, roughly chopped
2cm piece fresh ginger, roughly chopped
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp fennel seeds
1 bay leaves
1 cinnamon stick
Fry Light
1. Place the chopped onions, garlic and ginger in a food processor and blitz to make a paste.
2. Heat a large non-stick frying pan, add the cumin seeds, fennel seeds, bay leaves and cinnamon stick and let them sizzle for a minute. Add the Fry light and, once hot, pour in the paste from the food processor and fry for 10-15 minutes until golden brown.
3. Add the ground spices, tomato purée and salt. Add meat/vegetables and brown, and pour in 200ml water. Bring to a simmer for 10 minutes until thickened and meat/chicken cooked through.

I'm pretty sure tomato purée has syns in it, though I think maybe only half a syn per tbsp.
ReplyDeleteAs it is only half a syn split between 4 people/servings it's negliable and rather difficult to add in 1/8 of a syn into your daily allowance, so I've just omitted it. But you are right there is a syn value.
