Philly CheeseSteak Subs


Serves 2-3

Roughly 300g steak, put in freezer until just firm
1 white onion, diced
1 green pepper, diced
Handful mushrooms, sliced
1 tsp minced garlic
2 slices light processed (American) cheese
2 whl sub rolls (Tesco does a 95g variety)

1. Slice the semi-frozen meat as thinly as possible. Set to one side to come to room temperature.

2. In a large frying pan saute the onion, peppers & mushrooms until soft. Add the garlic and fry for another 3-5 mins. Put them to one side.
 
3. Start to fry the steak, using 2 spatulas start to break up the meat as it cooks. When the meat starts to caramelise add the veggies back in. Heat through.

4. Put the filling in the bread roll and top with cheese.

Serve with chips & gherkin spears.

Also can be done with finely diced chicken breast.
